Kathak is a centuries-old Indian dance form which used to be performed at Indian royal courts, accompanied by Sitar, Sarangi and Tabla.
Nritya Bharti Kathak Dance Academy Pune is one of the most famous Kathak dance schools in the world as it was founded by legendary Kathak exponent Mrs. Rohini Bhate, an outstanding Kathak master and mentor who contributed hugely to the field of Indian Classical dance.
The Academy founded by her is today run by distinguished dancer Mrs. Aruna Kelkar, who brings an ensemble of 9 Kathak dancers from Pune with her. They will perform both purely rhythmical sequences (Nrtta) as well as narrative pieces (Nrtya) associated to Indian mythology and Hindu gods Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva or Lord Krishna.

The performance will be a very rare opportunity to see one of the world’s most authentic and distinguished Indian dance groups!

Dance does not signify mere pleasure – nor is it just fascinating physical activity.
It awakens the soul and arouses a sense of elation – rarely experienced otherwise.
What is Dance then – if not a prayer?
