SONGS OF THE PROPHETS

Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche / Saturday, Mar 21 – 19:00

„Reason is powerless in the expression of Love.
Love alone is capable of revealing the truth of Love and being a Lover.
The way of our prophets is the way of Truth.
If you want to live, die in Love; die in Love if you want to remain alive.”

- Mevlana Rumi (1207 – 1273)

SABRI BROTHERS

The Qawwali music of the Sabri Brothers is a devotional and powerful Sufi music born out
of Persian and Indian influences. The Sabri Brothers hail from Rajasthan and are today one of the most popular exponents of Sufi music worldwide.

The longing of man to unite with the Divine, the devotion and the love of the seeker of truth, are expressed through Qawwali music. The performance starts with a hymn to Allah (“Hamd”). Followed by praises to Prophet Mohammad (“Naat”) and to Iman Hazrat Ali and various Sufi saints („Manqabat“) the ritual is culminating to songs of love (“Ghazal”), songs of mourning („Marsiya“) and finally to the „Muadjaat“, in which many linguistical and musical variations express the gratitude towards Allah, the Omnipresent, the Merciful.
